Document Scanning/Imaging Specialist (Full-time)

Scan and index documents/records

 JOB FUNCTION:
Under close supervision, Document Image Technician performs tasks involving the use of document scanners, and indexing software. Follows proper procedures to perform daily operations of document imaging, processing, and indexing of client records. The Document Image Technician may perform one or more of the typical responsibilities associated with the functions of prepping operations, document indexing and scanning. Errors have the potential for causing client problems, delay, expense and/or disruption to client and/or Canaan Media LLC.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 100%
Confidentiality
o Maintains confidentiality by keeping all information seen and heard in the facility in the strictest confidence.
o Will never compromise client record integrity in any way such as; deleting images without replacing same or not scanning all documents required, not correcting bad images when discovered, or indexing incorrect information on records.
Productivity and Quality
o Maintains productivity, quality and assures customer service standards.
General Responsibilities
o Prepping:
Will meet productivity standards as established by the Company
Will write the correct account numbers of every chart
Will log every account that was prepped
Will remove all staples from all records
Will tape all loose items on all records
Will remove all hanging chads from punch holes
Will unbend any folded corners on documents
Will mark poor quality documents with the poor quality stamp
Will ensure that every page belongs to appropriate account
Will ensure that documents are separated properly
Will move boxes as required and according to safety guidelines (approximate weight = 35 lbs)
o Scanning:
Will meet productivity standards as established by the Company
Will complete log books appropriately
Will ensure that the highest level of image quality possible is met
Will scan every document that you are assigned
Will prevent pages from double feeding while scanning
Will prevent skewed pages while scanning

Captioning/Transcription Specialist (Full-time)
Canaan Media LLC, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Transcribe and caption various video and/or audio files.

Position Duties:

Transcribe all spoken words, include notes and symbols for related background music, sound effects, or visuals
Transcribe an hour video within 2-3 hours with a minimum accuracy rating of 98.5%
Internet research as needed to verify correct spelling of people’s names, places, and terminology
Generate a style sheet after review and edit of the transcript
Ability to learn customized computer systems and handle special projects as needed
Work well with other team members
Location: Branchburg, New Jersey

Additional responsibilities:

Perform other duties and projects as required by management.

Job Requirements:

Associate Degree in Computer Information Technology, Graphic Arts, Technical Writing, or Journalism preferred or equivalent experience
Typing speed of 70-90 WPM
Video/audio transcription skills preferred
Proficient Microsoft Office skills (2007 or higher)
Excellent command of English and grammar
Good recognition of English spoken by non-native speakers
Comfortable listening to a variety of accents and audio quality issues
Possess good eye-hand coordination skills
Ability to synchronize transcript with video/audio recordings
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Background Check and Skills Testing Required

Professional Archivist

Full-time or Part-time Positions available for Professional, Trained Archivists

Job Description – Archivist
The archivist is responsible for preserving and organizing historically valuable or otherwise important documents or records belonging to the federal government. This person serves as a representative of Canaan Media and collaborates with the project manager, the staff and others to fulfill the above statement of purpose. This position reports to Office Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Accession, process, and catalog existing materials in the client’s collection
  • Accept and process new materials in accordance with the policies and priorities of the client.
  • Maintain records of archive projects, programs, and activities.
  • Works with the client: identify issues of policy related to the preservation of and/or access to their collections; and to identify and prepare collections for digitization.
  • Maintain good relations with those area libraries, archives and organizations whose objectives are similar to ours.
  • Write monthly reports to the clients.
  • Work with team to create displays for events.
  • As necessary, fill in for absent staff members or assists them when needed.
  • Other projects and duties as needed.

Skills & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in history or related field. Prefer Master’s Degree in library and information science.
  • Knowledge of archival practices for handling rare, old and fragile documents and photographs.
  • Experience with the use of some document management systems for collections archiving.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, also familiarity with digital imaging applications including scanning software, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with preservation and conservation issues as they relate to archives.
  • Ability to work effectively autonomously and alone as well as with a team.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 30 pounds and to carry boxes up and down stairs.
